Player Bio

Athletic offensive linemen are slim pickings in high school football but Alex Mollette proves to be one of those special apples in the orchard. Standing at six-foot-two and weighing 265 pounds, the junior is emerging on the offensive line for North Gwinnett thanks in part to the skill set he possesses. Mollette carries a package that features great instincts, agility and strength which has helped to anchor a Bulldog offense to average 311 yards and 42.8 points per games during 2014, which resulted into an assortment of honors for the junior, including Gwinnett County Player of the Month for October. The interest in Mollette has gained steam this year from the likes of Cal-Berkeley, Purdue, and Duke have all been in contact with the lineman. With the skill sets that he brings to the table, Mollette’s ability are not limited to just pushing people around on the gridiron. The lineman currently stands as one of the top wrestlers in his weight class for Region 7-AAAAAA after finishing second at a regional meet last year. He has also been met with success on the track-and-field squad, where he placed sixth in the region at the shot put with a distance of 43 feet, 2.5 inches. Academics remain the number one priority for Alex and his family despite all of the recruiting attention and his parents have made sure that this always remains the case for their son. The junior mentioned one occasion where a bad grade in marketing incited his father to threaten pulling his son from the middle of a wrestling practice until it improved. Mr. and Mrs. Mollette surely do not need to worry much about their son’s grades. He currently carries a 3.2 GPA and has already thought about career goals, mentioning his interest in taking part in occupational therapy. His focus is geared more towards helping those with mental and physical disabilities, citing his time spent with kids enrolled in the special education program at North Gwinnett. Mollette enjoys spending time with students in the program because of the interaction that he has with the group. He mentions the kids always carrying a positive outlook on things and never allowing negative things to get in the way, a mentality he strives to carry on the playing field and in life.
