Player Bio

Antonio Leroy II is a linebacker out of Monroe High School that is extremely polished for a high school player. The junior possesses a high football IQ, above-average strength and tremendous speed along with great leadership ability that has helped to establish him as one of the better defensive prospects for the Class of 2016. He has been a consistent performer since starting as a freshman where he played a big part in the Tornadoes reaching the second round of the state playoffs in their first season playing in Class AAAA. Leroy followed by putting together a strong sophomore campaign that resulted in All-Region honors while also being named Team Defensive Player of the Year. His junior season has proven to be the best thus far as he took leadership of a unit that allowed only 11.3 points per game during the 2014 season. Leroy played a large factor in that strong defense, accumulating 118 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, seven sacks and four interceptions, including two which were returned for scores. Monroe head coach Charles Truitt considers his star linebacker to be a caliber Division I defender. SEC schools can approve of that point as South Carolina and UGA are just two of a bevy of schools that have displayed interest in the standout defender. Success in football is nothing new to the Leroy family. The linebacker’s father, Antonio Sr., made his mark at Albany State as a running back where he was a two-time Division II Player of the Year while also finishing his college career with the fourth-most rushing yards in Division-II football history. Leroy possesses leadership traits that do not just quantify to his gridiron endeavors as he is the President of the Student-Leadership Committee at Monroe and regularly volunteers to help young students and kids. He also excels in the classroom where he has recorded a 3.5 grade-point average and also participates on the track and field squad where he throws the discus and runs the 100 and 200-meter. The junior is a true leader on the football field, as well as, the classroom. Combined that with his athletic ability and Leroy can truly exceed at any endeavors that he takes on at the college level.
