Player Bio

An injury in the season forced Devon Henderson to move from cornerback to safety but the results remained the same. Henderson thrived at safety and was a leader on the Marietta defense. Henderson accredited his vision and his ability to diagnose plays for his success. Henderson recorded 28 tackles and three interceptions including one pick-six last season as a sophomore. Not only does Henderson have speed to burn, but he also is quite strong. Although small in stature standing at 5-foot-9, he benches nearly 200 pounds and squats over 300. He was ranked the No. 1 defensive back in his class in his region last season as a sophomore and earned Defensive Player of the Week honors this season. He has not received any offers yet but is expected to gain the interest of some schools by next year. He plays guard for the basketball team and runs the 100m and 4x100m on the track team to stay in shape. Henderson holds an 11.55 100-meter dash time and is continuing to improve on his speed. His favorite memory came a year ago when he intercepted a pass off a bubble screen. If he had a choice of any school, Henderson would attend Louisville and study management. He likes the way Louisville plays defense and would be a good fit in their scheme. Henderson has matured since joining the football team and said he used to be a “Me” person but thanks to his coaches, Henderson has learned that the team’s success is more important than individual accolades.
