Jarvis Terrell is a standout running back for Carrollton High School that has established himself as a playmaking threat when he has the ball in his hands. Though he may be considered undersized at 5-foot-8 and weighing 166 pounds, he is a firecracker that possesses tremendous speed and explosiveness. That speed was put on display this past summer when he posted 4.39 40-yard dash at the MVP camp.

That speed was noticed early on as a freshman, when he emerged as an impact player, rushing for 695 yards and eight touchdowns while helping to lead the Trojans into the second round of the state playoffs. The running back followed with an even better season in 2013, as he ran for 1,158 yards and 17 touchdowns on just 60 carries along with being listed on the All-County squad. That year culminated in Terrell leading Carrollton to the state finals before falling to Griffin.

His junior campaign was marred by a severely bruised knee, but he was able to stay productive as Terrell ran for 522 yards on 123 carries along with six scores, while adjusting to a new offensive philosophy under first-year coach Ed Dudley.

The junior has drawn attention from schools like Mississippi State and Purdue, but Terrell’s recruiting exploits expand beyond the gridiron. The speedster has also seen a great deal of success on the track-and-field squad. Terrell left a trail of smoke at the state meet when he won the championship in the 200-meter with a blazing time of 21.4 seconds. Speed of that standard has had UCLA and Cincinnati ringing the doorbell seeking his talents on the track.

Despite all of the notoriety that he has gained through his athletic prowess, Terrell carries a quiet demeanor that has led Coach Dudley to refer to him as “The Silent Assassin”. Yet, his playmaking ability has made tremendous noise during his high school career.

The junior has maintained good grades in the classroom, proven by a 3.4 grade point average and, as far as career aspirations go, Terrell would like to stay around the game and possibly work as a team trainer when his playing days finish.
