Cedar Grove High School posted its best record in 22 years with a 9-3 finish with the help of junior wide receiver and defensive back Jesse Reverio who made a huge impact on both sides of the ball for the Saints this season. Jesse is known for being humble and his grinding work ethic to get better every day. His ability to play both sides of the ball has many college teams interested and made him invaluable to the Saints this year. Florida, Michigan State and Georgia State have all shown interest in the versatile Reverio. He said he enjoys the physical nature of playing defense and being able to hit people, but says he most likely will play wide receiver in college. Jesse’s speed and size makes him a dynamic player on both sides of the ball. He can use his 6-foot-2 frame to go up and high-point balls, or he can just run past defenders or track down ball carriers with his 4.5 speed.
Jesse not only uses his speed on the football field, but he also is a part of the Saints track team where he runs the 400, 4×400, and the 4×100. Reverio was able to show off his speed this past summer when he attended Cam Newton’s Camp. At the camp, he was able to showcase his skills and compete with some of the best players in the area.
Reverio’s love for sports spills over from the gridiron into the classroom where he would like to study sport management in college. The ability to stick in the sports industry after his playing days are over is something that interests him.
This year has been a big one for Jesse as he continued to get one step closer to playing in college and winning a state title. When asked about helping Cedar Grove to its best record since 1992, Jesse remarked that it is something special to wear across their chest and that himself along with his teammates feel responsible for helping grow the program. His coaches have showed they really care and it has paid off. Jesse’s coaches along with his uncle have really helped him stay positive and learn the game.
The next step for Cedar Grove and Jesse is to make a deep run into the postseason and in doing so Jesse will surely receive all the offers he covets.
