Player Bio

When Joe Mancuso is under center for Union County, opposing defenses are in for a long game. The 6-foot-3, 195 pound quarterback possesses above-average accuracy, great pocket presence and tremendous instincts, making him one of the top junior signal-callers in Georgia.

Mancuso has built up tremendous numbers in his two years as Union County starting quarterback. His sophomore season saw him pass for 2,689 yards and 27 touchdowns while rushing for 435 and six scores on the ground. This effort culminated in Mancuso being honored as the ‘Blitz’ Player of the Year while also earning All-State Honorable Mention and being named First-Team All-Region quarterback.

Following a tremendous sophomore campaign, he felt the urge about still needing to improve his game. “I knew going into my junior year that I had to improve from my sophomore year in order to (improve) the team and better myself.”

Mancuso did just that in the 2014 season when he led the Panthers to the first round of the state playoffs before falling to Model. The quarterback completed 61 percent of his passes for 3,081 yards to along with an astounding touchdown-interception ratio of 35-3.

His production has garnered the interest of schools across the nation including California, Harvard, Missouri, Nebraska and Georgia Southern.

His impact is also felt on the baseball diamond. Mancuso pitches and plays first base for a Panther squad that accumulated an 18-7 record along with reaching the first round of the state playoffs. The multi-sport athlete led the team with four home runs and 21 runs batted in. However, football remains as his number one priority.

The junior exceeds in the classroom, proven with his 3.8 GPA, and his current career aspirations focus on being involved in medicine, but would like to stay around sports. Mancuso finds it tough to spend time to help in the community but, when able, regularly assists in animal shelters and picking up trash with his teammates.
