Player Bio

Roswell head coach John Ford describes safety/outside linebacker Marcelino Ball as “physical, strong and explosive”; opposing offenses that have played against Ball would agree. At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, the second year starter and former wrestler loves to hit people on defense for the Hornets. Marcelino helped Roswell go 8-4 this season; the program’s best record since 2009. Ball says that his best attributes on the field that make him stand out are his abilities to tackle, play coverage, and stop the run. He used to run track and holds a forty-time around 4.7 to help him swarm to the ball carrier. This past summer he attended Rivals camp and also visited IMG as a part of the Cam Newton Foundation all-star team.

After being named All-Region Honorable Mention a year ago, Ball has received interest from Clemson, Georgia Southern and Mississippi State. He didn’t grow up as a diehard fan of a single program and remains open to all schools that are willing to give him an opportunity to play. His list of interested schools should grow after completing another strong season at Roswell.

He says that he used to want to study in the medical field in school growing up, but as he has gotten older he has realized that it would take many more years of schooling to make it in the industry. He plans on studying either business or management in school now. Marcelino has been a part of the North Fulton Community Charities in the past. He has helped work events, pass out backpacks, serve food and put on games for children.

Marcelino will continue to grow into his body and will remain a physical force for his senior season. Expect for more and more schools to make offers as his career progresses.
