Player Bio

Lamar County linebacker Pippin Davis may not be the strongest or fastest player on his team, but he very well may be one of the smartest. Pippin boasts a GPA of 3.8 and uses that high IQ not only in the classroom but on the field as well. Head coach Jamie Abrams says that he is great at diagnosing plays and always knows where to be on the field. Davis is like another coach on the field, always making sure his teammates are in the correct position.

As a sophomore, he recorded 79 tackles as the team’s second leading tackler and helped Lamar County reach the state championship. Pippin has been an All-Region long snapper as a freshman, and All-Region and All-Middle Georgia honorable mention at linebacker as a sophomore. He attended camps at Valdosta State, Kennesaw State, and Mercer this offseason to get better and gain exposure. Davis’ dream school would be Georgia where he would like to study education and become a coach one day.

Aside from football the 6-foot-1 190 pound Pippin also used to play baseball and is an avid fisherman. He will be running track for the first time this season to help increase his speed and explosiveness. Pippin accredits his success to former coach Franklin Stephens and current coach Jamie Abrams. He explained, “My coach from last year Franklin Stephens, he’s at Ware County now, he’s kind of the one that gave me the chance to play my sophomore year and really taught me a lot about the game. This year my coach Jamie Abrams has taught me a lot about the game and has helped me out.”

Even with his success, Pippin remains a team player that prides himself in putting the team first. “Team is everything to me. If something goes on with the team I’m going to try my best to help the team. It’s not about me, it’s about the team.” With such a good head on his shoulders, an outstanding work ethic and high IQ, Pippin Davis will be a name to keep an eye out for.
