Player Bio

Robert Tucker is a linebacker from B.E.S.T. Academy who is beginning to emerge on radars in the college recruiting scene. The junior possesses a strong skill-set at his position where he has displayed great instincts, good strength and a high motor in ball pursuit. Combine that with his size, 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, and he is a force to be reckoned with for opposing offenses.

The Eagles have had the opportunity to utilize its top player at linebacker as well as tight end during its three-year history of the program and he has played a huge role. Since starting as a freshman, Tucker’s play has steadily improved with the proof being indicated in the numbers. In a sophomore season that saw him miss five games, he still provided a solid season as he logged 32 tackles, two tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in helping guide B.E.S.T. Academy to its first-ever appearance in the state playoffs.

The two-way standout’s junior campaign proved to be even better as Tucker’s production at tight end improved dramatically, as he caught 25 passes for 488 yards per catch and five touchdowns. Yet, it was a linebacker where his impact was truly felt as he collected 88 total tackles, including five for loss and recorded five sacks along with two interceptions.

His athletic prowess does not do enough justice for the impact he makes on those around him. According to B.E.S.T. Academy head coach Joshua Moore, Robert is a great leader who does an exceptional job of mentoring his younger teammates and deterring them from making similar mistakes to what Tucker personally made at their age. Widely respected by his teammates, this prompted Moore to have his standout player elected as one of the team’s captains prior to the 2014 season.

While managing to balance school alongside his prowess on the gridiron, Tucker’s responsibilities extend to his home life where he looks after his younger sisters following football practices in order to help his mother while she works night shifts in order to support their family. For Coach Moore, watching his junior’s progression as a player and a person has been remarkable to witness, and surely the best is yet to come for Tucker as interest from colleges continue to grow.
