Player Bio

McEachern running back Sam Jackson transferred over to Power Springs after a successful season at South Cobb where he ran for 812 yards. Jackson was expecting to split some carries but mainly learn behind Oregon commit Taj Griffin, but when Griffin went down with a season ending knee injury in the Corky Kell Classic, Sam was thrust into duty. He admitted that he wasn’t really ready at first, but his teammates were able to motivate him and make him comfortable in his new role.

Jackson did a very nice job filling the massive void left by Griffin by running for 804 yards and 8 touchdowns and helping McEachern finish 10-4. The speedy Jackson has gained interest from Georgia Southern, North Carolina, Marshall, and Charlotte, with Southern offering him a scholarship. Sam has managed to catch college’s eyes with his 4.35 40-time. He has won Nationals in track and specializes in the 100m and 4×100. His fastest 100m time is an electric 10.64 seconds.

Sam is the eldest of three kids. His dad got him into football at the age of four. He enjoys being a running back because he gets to make plays with the ball in his hands. He made enough plays to be named All-County a year ago with South Cobb. He parlayed last season’s success into dominating at the Adidas Showcase Camp where he won the top running back MVP award. His trainer Jeff Jackson has helped him with his trade mark speed on both the track and the gridiron.

In school, Sam says he would like to study science. He is very fascinated with living creatures and would like to further his knowledge of the subject. He enjoys going to parks and hanging out with his little brother and sister. He says he enjoys sharing his knowledge with young kids whether it is about football or about life. His uncle played a similar role in his life growing up and was a very positive influence.

His favorite football memory came in eighth grade when he scored a kick return touchdown in his very first game the first time he touched the ball. Sam will have many more opportunities to score touchdowns and make memories in his upcoming senior season.
