Player Bio

Do you remember your first varsity start and how was it?
“My first varsity start was against Dalton High School (the first regular season game of this year). We only beat them by seven last year, but this year everyone played well and we won by 21.”

Have you played OL your entire life and what made you want to play OL?
“I have played OL my entire life. OL just seems to “fit” me and I feel like I am the most helpful to my team in that position.”

What is your best asset as an OL? Is technique or strength more important in your opinion? What is your primary OL position and how comfortable are you with other positions? What do you want to play in college?
“My best asset as an offensive lineman is probably my intelligence and my ability to keep a cool head. I am the center at Calhoun because my offensive line coach wants me to make the defensive recognition and protection calls. Technique is more important than strength in my opinion, but to be good I believe you have to have both in some capacity.”
“My current position on the offensive line is center, although I believe I would be comfortable playing anywhere on the line given that I have time to learn the position. I have no preference about college position. I will play wherever the coaches believe I will fit best.”

Who is the most influential person in your life?
“My father is the most influential person in my life.”

How many brothers and sisters, what ages and do they play sports?
“I have two brothers; Clayton, 12 and Christian, five. Clayton plays football, soccer and basketball.”

Parents name and did they play sports in college?
“Christina Long and Bill long; my father played college football at UCF.”

Do you do any work in the community?
“I am an active Christian and an active member of FCA at school. I also help out in the community with community service, and by being a mentor through our Key Club “Big Jacket-Little Jacket” program.”

What colleges have shown interest in you/offered you?
“I have no offers from any colleges yet because this is my first year as a starter, although Miami, Missouri, Kentucky, Purdue, Middle Tennessee, Samford, Jacksonville State, several Ivy League schools and others have shown interest.”

What do you want to study in school?
“I believe I want to study international affairs or political science in college.”

What has been your best football memory?
“My best football memory was when our team won the state championship in 2014. I was a back-up center, but it was important to me to contribute as a scout team tackle working against Auburn commit Landon Rice in practice to do whatever I could to help our team win.”

Gain any accolades?
“Pre-Season All- State All-Academic Team (Ga. Preps).”

Did you attend any camps this offseason?
“I attended the Atlanta Rivals combine presented by Under Armour, Georgia camp, Miami camp and a National Spotlight High Academic camp at IMG Academy by invitation this offseason.”

Play any sports besides football?
“I am on the Track & Field team and in the spring. I throw the Discus and Shot-put.”

Outside of playing sports, what would you want to do for a living?

What is a fact about you many people that don’t know you, wouldn’t be able to guess?
“I enjoy participating in events involving the fine arts as a member of the CHS chorus and defending AAA literary state champion quartet, as well as CHS dramatic productions.”
